HEAVY GROUND AT DOWN ROYAL: But the meeting goes ahead and SHAMROCK’s bids to follow-up Tuesday’s winning nap Fourth Estate (WON 4/5)
The most interesting race from a betting angle might be the flat race at Down Royal because Fickle Fortune has been backed off the screens this morning on BETDAQ and the filly looks set to make a winning racecourse debut under Nina Carberrry. Trained by Noel Meade, Fickle Fortune gets all the weight allowances and may have most to fear from Los Amigos who ran well at big odds over course and distance on his debut.
A big field line-up for the maiden hurdle at 2.35 and it’s the top two on the card that bring the best form to the race and dominate the betting. Of the pair preference is for Quaquo De Flotte who looked a little unlucky not to win on similar bottomless ground as today at Thurles last time out and Ruby Walsh is back onboard today.
For the nap I look towards another Walsh/Mullins combo. Soll in the 1.35 should win his first start over fences. He went into many notebooks with an excellent second to Son Amix at Punchestown last time out and this looks his for the taking against mainly exposed rivals.
SHAMROCK’S BETS
NAP: Soll (Down Royal 1.35)
NEXT BEST: Quaquo De Flotte (Down Royal 2.35)
EXTRA BET: Fickle Fortune (Down Royal 4.05)
