HAYDOCK: Shamrock heads to Haydock Park for his nap where Irish-bred runners dominate an interesting novices hurdle at 4.55.
With the notable exception of Peddlers Cross Don McCain has had a Cheltenham to remember and his horses are showing remarkable consistency throughout the season.
In the 4.55 at Haydock today the Irish-bred runners completely dominate the market and the best could be the McCain trained Amron Lsd who is trading just north of evens at the time of writing on BETDAQ.
The chances are that he was beaten by a very promising horse in Aland Islands (unbeaten in three) at Doncaster last time out and without that one in the race he would have won by 30 lengths with 13 lengths back to the third.
Holywell sets a fair standard to aim at after his Chepstow win last time out and the form has since been stamped as fairly solid. But he may prove vulnerable under the 7lb penalty for that success.
In the opener at Kempton – the Betdaq Maiden Stakes – I’m against the favourite Viola Da Gamba who is unproven on the surface and whilst the Irish-bred grey filly Emman Bee is hardly setting the world alight she is at least race fit and has shown ability here at Kempton.
