DREAM NAP: NOW FOR ANOTHER ONE UP: Shamrock landed his nap with Bertie’s Dream (WON 9-10) at Thurles yesterday and his two other bets were placed, as forecast, though shorter at SP than the Betdaq morning offers, of course. Up is his best bet at Dundalk today.
I believe that Up will ease down in price. You might well get evens at some stage about the Ballydoyle hot-pot in the EBF Fillies’ race at Dundalk, such is the worry about Aidan O’Brien’s early-season form.
But, though she is unlikely to take front rank among their Classic contenders, Up (6.50) is still in both the English and Irish 1,000 Guineas and is in a race today which, though it seldom has many runners, has produced two Group-3 performers in the last four seasons, one of them winner of the Brownstown.
Billyford (7.50) might be vulnerable after coughing ruled him out of the Irish Lincolnshire and his race gives Banna Boirche a great chance to return to his winning ways of 2010 (five wins at Dundalk).
After a campaign in Meydan, Mick Halford’s six-year-old almost managed to land a gamble here in March, beaten a neck (with Duff behind).
I’m relying on last year’s winning apprentice on Queen Grace (6.20) to launch my trio; the Choisir mare looks poised from a promising return to action last month, and has an excellent low draw.
SHAMROCK’S BETS
NAP: Up (6.50 Dundalk)
DAQ TRIO: Queen Grace (6.20 Dundalk), Up (6.50 Dundalk) and Banna Boirche (7.50 Dundalk)
