3/1 WINNER FROM JUST TWO TIPS: Shamrock’s next best selection The Real Article won at a surprisingly generous 3/1 in a field of just three at Killarney last night. The nap disappointed but that’s still three winning selections from four bets so far this week.
YORK: Irish raiders have a poor record in the Musidora Stakes and with Aidan O’Brien’s Twirl trading at around 1.88 I’m not sure I want to get involved as a backer or layer. Sometimes the price is exactly where you think it should be and whilst she brings the best form into the race, with a Group 3 runner up to Chrysanthemum, at the Curragh, I’m happy to leave the race alone from a betting perspective in what could easily develop as a very tactical race.
NAAS: Whatever the fate of Twirl, her jockey Joseph O’Brien faces a race against time to get back for the opening race at Naas (5.20) where he partners debutant Delight. The O’Brien stable won this last year with Maybe and Delight is nicely bred and well worth keeping an eye on.
The pick of the O’Brien runners however today though might be Was in the Group 3 Blue Wind Stakes at 7.20. Was made a nice winning debut at the Curragh – anything else would have been a disappointment as she cost 1,200,000 guineas as a yearling !!
