NO DOUBTING CHURCHILL’S AUTHORITY: SHAMROCK looks ahead to Irish 2000 Guineas Day at the Curragh where Churchill will go off a short price favourite in the classic.

Churchill started his career here at the Curragh – beaten just over two lengths on debut on soft ground but hasn’t looked back since.

It’s now six wins in a row for the colt who stayed the mile well when winning the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and now bids for the Irish equivalent.

Stable companions Lancaster Bomber and Spirit Of Valor were brushed aside at Newmarket and look to have the proverbial mountain to climb.

Mick Halford’s unbeaten Irishcorrespondent could chase Churchill home. Both his successes to date have come over a mile and whilst they have been with consummate ease his ability at this level is completely untested.

Acapulco is out of the six furlong Greenlands Stakes and the Group 2 can now go to Blue De Vega who ran his best race to date 12 months ago when finishing third to Awtaad in the 2000 Guineas.

The decision to drop him back to this trip looks sensible as he was travelling well and strongly a furlong out at Naas in the seven furlong Gladness Stakes.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Blue De Vega (3.35 Curragh)
