SHAMROCK BIDS FOR NAPS HAT-TRICK: SHAMROCK bids for a naps hat-trick today. Saturday’s NAP runs at Cork.
Fire Fighting romped home in the Listed Carlingford Stakes at Dundalk last night by five lengths at 8/11.
I have left the challenge of Champions Day today to colleague DAQMAN (who is in great form!).
At the time of writing there is still no news about Gleneagle’s participation in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (how many times have we been here before !!!).
Home action comes from Cork with a seven race flat card underway at 1.50pm.
The big race on the card is the Listed corkracecourse.ie Navigation Stakes at 3.35 which has attracted a tightly knit field of five.
Akira represents Aidan O’Brien but it was only a three runner event she won narrowly last time out and preference is for Flight Risk.
He was a good second to Sovereign Debt in a Listed race at the Curragh earlier in this season and this certainly looks an easier Listed prize. Trainer Jim Bolger won this contest last year.
