DREAM TO FINALLY COME TRUE: SHAMROCK’S nap on Saturday runs in the final race – the maiden at 5.50pm. The going is on the soft side and heavy in places on the home straight.
Testing conditions at the Curragh on Saturday with the ground heavy in places on the home straight.
That might well play into the hands of Pocketfullofdreams who can make it seventh time lucky and lose her maiden tag in the concluding race at 5.50pm.
The Aidan O’Brien trained runner was the pacemaker in the Oaks at Epsom last time out – weakening quickly inside the final two furlongs and only beating two home in the end.
She had previously run well when second in the Lingfield Oaks Trial and handled give in the ground when a neck runner-up over this trip at Cork earlier in the season.
The danger may well come from another O’Brien runner – Joseph runs Satisfy who made a pleasing enough debut at Gowran Park (yielding to soft) when fourth to Modern Approach. We’ll get a late clue as to the value of that form when Modern Approach runs in the proceeding mile and half handicap at 5.20pm on today’s card.
