NAP HAT-TRICK LANDED: SHAMROCK landed his naps hat-trick yesterday with the recommended lay of Pink Dogwood in the Oaks but it was a close call. He naps in the Derby today.

The hat-trick of naps was landed yesterday but only just! Pink Dogwood (a LAY NAP) looked all over the winner in the Oaks and traded at around 1.08 in the BETDAQ in-play market.

Moving on to Epsom on Saturday for Derby day and Aidan O’Brien dominates the big race with seven of the 13 runners declared.

It’s very hard to get away from the impressive win of Sir Dragonet in the Chester Vase where he quickened clear in impressive fashion to beat stable companion Norway (also running today) by eight lengths. The going was good to soft that day and will be much faster at Epsom this afternoon after a sun-drenched morning.

Ryan Moore was the subject of much discussion after the Oaks. Many thought he made his move too early on Pink Dogwood and he will be anxious to put matters right in the biggest race of all later today.

Of those at a bigger prices, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bangkok run well for trainer Andrew Balding. He was impressive when winning the Classic Trial at Sandown and showed a smart turn over a shorter trip.

Another Aidan O’Brien runner Broome must come into the reckoning after his easy success at Leopardstown when winning the Derby Trials Stakes. He has quite a lazy style, so it’s never going to look impressive but he keeps getting the job done and could be the danger to stable companion Sir Dragonet.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Sir Dragonet (4.30 Epsom)
