DOWN ROYAL DUAL GRADED ACTION: SHAMROCK previews the JNwine.com Champion Chase and the Titanic Belfast Chase – the feature races on the Down Royal card this afternoon.
The NAP, Morgan, could only finish third yesterday but there was better news at Dundalk where the second bet of the day – Blitz (NEXT BEST) WON AT 5/2.

Gordon Elliott has won two of the last three runnings of this and his main hope lies with Don Poli today. As we saw with Apple’s Jade yesterday it might just be that the ex-Mullins inmates will need some time to acclimatise to both their new surroundings and training regimes and I want to look elsewhere.
Silviniaco Conti is the class act in the race but it’s hard to know what to expect from the dual King George winner who has been off the track since pulling up in the Grand National.
Valseur Lido might be the one today. He chased home Vautour in the Ryanair Chase and he is now with Henry de Bromhead with the stable going pretty well.
3:05 Titanic Belfast Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 3f 120y, 7 runners)
Paul Nicholls is long odds on to win this if you go exclusively by his astonishing record in the race, he’s won six of the last seven with only Don Cossack spoiling the sequence. This looks open though and preference goes to Sub Lieutenant who has the benefit of a recent winning run at Limerick and that might just give him a fitness edge.
