SHAMROCK ON NEW YEAR’S DAY: SHAMROCK heads to Fairyhouse for his first bet of 2022 in the Grade 3 mares chase at 2.40pm.
Top of the morning and Top of the year !! It’s an early AM start at Fairyhouse to blow away any New Year hangovers and there’s also racing at Tramore on Saturday with a seven race card starting at midday.
SHAMROCK will nominate a daily NAP in 2022 – keeping it simple and aiming for a level stakes profit on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE value.
The feature at Fairyhouse is the John & Chich Fowler Memorial EBF Mares Chase at 2.40pm which looks a much better contest than its official Grade 3 tag.
It brings together the reigning Cheltenham Champion Chaser Put The Kettle On, Elimay for Willie Mullins and Mount Ida who looked good when winning a Listed chase at Clonmel on her seasonal reappearance.
The conditions of this race are squarely in Elimay’s favour though who is second best in on the ratings yet three of her four rivals have to give her weight.
The headache for punters is whether the ratings can be trusted and what form Elimay is in after she disappointed at Aintree when a 2/5 favourite.
Put The Kettle On hasn’t (yet) returned to her sensational spring form so today’s race might be best left to Mount Ida who is up in class but a tough performer as she showed when winning the Kim Muir at Cheltenham.
