An early start at Fairyhouse this afternoon. In fact, make that ‘this morning’ with the first race off at 11.55.
There are some big field races on the card including in both divisions of the Happy 80th Birthday Peter Donnelly Maiden Hurdle.
My best bet runs in the second division at 1.25 and I am sweet on the chances of the Paul Nolan trained Fine Article.
Despite the big field there are several of these that can be ruled out fairly quickly.
Fine Article looks head and shoulders above these rivals on what we have seen, although confidence has to be tempered by the fact that several of these may improve on previous runs.
Fine Article made his debut here in a bumper, finishing second, and then went one better when winning on the flat at Gowran Park.
He then ran a cracker when stepped up in class to contest the attheraces.com Champion Bumper at Punchestown and finished fourth to Shaneshill.
He has since made a pleasing hurdling debut when second to Killer Crow at Naas and might be better suited by the shorter trip here.
