Order Of St George bids for a hat-trick in the Irish St Leger Trial Stakes at the Curragh this afternoon and it’s hard to see him being defeated. He’s had 58 days to recover from his titanic battle with Big Orange in the Ascot Gold Cup in which he went down by just a short head and enjoys a five pound advantage at the weights with his nearest rival on official ratings here.
There was just half a length between Rekindling and Wicklow Brave in the Curragh Cup over C&D in July and Wicklow Brave is weighted to turn things around but Rekindling still has plenty of potential for improvement. There’s a huge disparity in price between the two and in a match bet on the pair I’d favour Wicklow but for the race winner it has to be Order Of St George – again.
