GROUP 3 ACTION AT GOWRAN PARK: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the Group 3 Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes at Gowran Park this afternoon.
Testing ground looks the order of the day at Gowran Park today where the feature is the Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes at 2.35pm.
It looks a wide open renewal and a rare race that Aidan O’Brien hasn’t dominated in recent seasons. He has three of the runners here and Joseph O’Brien runs two, including Ship Of Dreams who should appreciate the ground but has only won once in 12 starts and that was on the all-weather at Dundalk.
This has a real end of season look to it and some of these fillies might be over the top but the exception is Jaega who has only had three starts and was a runaway winner on heavy ground at Leopardstown on debut.
The Dermot Weld trained runner went on to finish second in a Group 3 and the faster ground probably went against her when she was only fifth in the Munster Oaks at Cork.
She has been given a break since then and will come back a fresh horse who we know likes the ground.
