SHAMROCK ON GRAND NATIONAL DAY: SHAMROCK naps an Aintree TREBLE and has two win and place bets on BETDAQ in the big race at 5.15pm.
Winners should be like shelling peas for the Irish at Aintree today but I’m not so sure in the big race itself.
Incidentally, is shelling peas easy? For a man with my limited culinary skills I think probably not. I get about as far as 2 minutes 30 seconds on the microwave for a pre-prepared Lasagne 🙁
It’s a shame that three of the preliminary races to the Grand National are so one-sided (on paper at least) but we saw what happened to Vautour yesterday at 1/5!.
I wonder just how many MULTIPLES involve Yorkhill, Douvan and Thistlecrack repeating their Cheltenham heroics?
All are long odds on and combine at just north of evens on BETDAQ MULTIPLES – a big tempter for many no doubt.
Certainly I can’t see anything stopping the Mullins pair Yorkhill and Douvan from oozing their class again. Thistlecrack looks rock solid too and I’m napping the treble!

Nina Carberry deputises for injured Ruby Walsh aboard Sir Des Champs and there has been support for the partnership today. He’s plenty of class and is now the ‘right age’ to win a National. He should also relish the extra rain that has fallen at Aintree this morning and could give the excellent Nina Carberry a good ride.
I’m including him on the BETDAQ PLACE MARKET (4 places) at around 8.6.

I also want to be with Gallant Oscar at around 7. He seems to handle big fields well and I think will see out the trip in style.

Today’s fixture at Gowran Park has survived an 8am course inspection. Waterlogging had been an issue, but conditions were deemed suitable enough to give the meeting the thumbs-up.
