SHAMROCK HEADS TO CORK: His best bet on Sunday runs in the Midsummer Sprint Stakes, a Listed race at 3.15pm.

3:15 Midsummer Sprint Stakes (Listed) (3yo+, Class 1, 5f, 8 runners)
Last year’s winner Cape Of Approval is back for more but without the benefit of a previous run this season. He hasn’t been seen since beating only one home in the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot in October. In contrast, An Saighdur has had a really busy campaign so far this season and was hugely impressive here when making all the running to beat another of today’s rivals Scream Blue Murder by FIVE lengths in April on heavy ground. That form could be turned around today as the drop back in trip and better ground is likely to suit Scream Blue Murder better. Preference is for UK raider Eton Rifles who failed by only a neck to hold on in a Listed race over this minimum trip ay Haydock last time.
3:50 Munster Oaks Stakes (Fillies’ Group 3) (3yo+, Class 1, 1m 4f, 7 runners)
Dermot Weld has won this prize three times from the last five and may well have the answer again with Edelmira who ‘could be anything’. She was well backed on debut at Tipperary and bolted home winning by five and half lengths from Toe The Line, a subsequent Roscommon winner. She has an entry in the Irish Oaks and whilst this is a massive leap in class I’m prepared to take the chance. Chief rival Venus de Milo disappointed in Listed company at Leopardstown last time and on jockey bookings is preferred to the other O’Brien runner Dazzling.
