TRIPLE GROUP ACTION: The Curragh stage a superb days racing on Sunday with three Group races on the card previewed by SHAMROCK.
Three Group races on the stellar Sunday card at the Curragh:
2:35 Debutante Stakes (Fillies Group 2)
Little surprise that Aidan O’Brien has dominated this race and goes for a fourth straight success. Zagitova (Ryan Moore) looks the pick of this trio and although she won her maiden impressively at Cork a couple of weeks ago, she was found to be lame post race. That would create a small element of concern for me, especially as I’m being asked to take short odds in a Group 2 contest. I prefer the chances of Lady Kaya who couldn’t have been more impressive over course and distance last time out when making all for a 10 lengths success. That was a stunning performance visually and she full deserves to take her chance up in grade.
3:05 Galileo Irish EBF Futurity Stakes (Group 2)
Another Aidan O’Brien benefit in recent years and he surely holds the keys again with Anthony Van Dyck. The Galileo colt was very impressive when winning the Group 3 Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown and Ryan Moore selects him ahead of the stables two other runners in the race. The Jessica Harrington trained Klute made a winning debut at 20/1 over course and distance and can only improve.
3:40 Manguard Plus Royal Whip Stakes (Group 3)
The race has a different complex now that Ming is a non runner. It’s difficult to know what to expect from Deauville who was last seen in the Arlington Million and favourite Verbal Dexterity has been off the course for 302 days. We still get the three places on BETDAQ and a place wager on the Joseph O’Brien trained Reckless Gold might be rewarded. He plugged on into third in a course and distance Group last time out and can repeat the feat.
