THREE GRADE 1 RACES: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the Drinmore Novice Chase at 2.35pm – part of a fantastic Sunday card at Fairyhouse.
A winning nap yesterday – Minella Encore at 4/9 but it looked mighty hard work and he was all out to win by half a length.
Superb card at Fairyhouse this afternoon with three Grade 1’s on the card.
I have to stick with Death Duty in the Drinmore Novice Chase at 2.35pm. The Gordon Elliott trained runner always looked as though he would make a better chaser than hurdler but he was a Grade 1 winner over hurdles as well and the sky really does look the limit.
He certainly wasn’t impressive on his chasing debut at Tipperary when only landing odds of 1/5 by three-quarters of a length but made a few mistakes and was much better next time out when winning the Buck House Novice Chase at Fairyhouse impressively and looked that day to have learnt a lot from his first run.
Despite the small field the race is jam-packed with quality and Death Duty’s stable companion Dinaria Des Obeaux certainly can’t be ruled out with her receiving weight.
Biggest danger though looks to be Rathvinden who has a little more chasing experience and was mighty impressive when winning the Like A Butterfly Novice Chase at Tipperary last time out.
