FINAL FLING AT GALWAY: It’s the final day of the Galway Festival on Sunday and once again SHAMROCK takes you through each of the races.

A really disappointing day for me at Galway yesterday.

Hopefully we can finish the seven day extravaganza in better form today.

The ground remains heavy.

2:15 Easy-Fix Beginners Chase (4yo+, 2m 1f, 11 runners)

Darwins Fox makes his second appearance of the week at the Galway Festival but switches from the flat to the chase course today. He finished second over 1m 4f on Wednesday but is a versatile sort who has winning hurdles form and will relish the ground.

SELECTION: Darwins Fox

2:45 Lord Hemphill Memorial Handicap Chase (4yo+, 2m 1f, 10 runners)

The Shepherd King has been nibbled at in morning transactions on BETDAQ and is interesting here. A lightly raced sort he has been a little disappointing in his last two starts but they both came on good to firm ground and he should enjoy conditions a lot more here. He usually travels well during his races.

SELECTION: The Shepherd King (WIN and PLACE)

3:20 Vision Express E.B.F. Mares Handicap Hurdle (4yo+, 2m, 10 runners)

Busted Tycoon won the final race here yesterday (on the flat) and bids for a remarkable third win at the Festival this week having won also on Tuesday. She is still down to run today and must again be worthy of consideration given she is clearly well handicapped at present.

SELECTION: Busted Tycoon

3:55 Trappers Inn Maiden Hurdle (4yo+, 2m, 21 runners)

Notable Graduate is the 2.5 fdavourite on BETDAQ for this but I’d hardly be rushing in at those odds after his disappointing effort earlier in the week when only 14th of 20 runners in a handicap chase. He looks a lay at current odds.

SELECTION: Notable Graduate (LAY)

4:30 Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle (81-116) (4yo+, 2m 2f, 17 runners)

Hold Em Cowboy showed improved form on his first start for Gordon Elliott when a nose second at Ballinrobe. He looks set to go close again here.

SELECTION: Hold Em Cowboy

5:00 Galway Shopping Centre Flat Race (4-7yo, 2m, 15 runners)

Miller Of Glanmire looks like going off short here – but he flopped at 5/4 on his pointing debut. Not one that I’d want to be playing at short odds.

SELECTION: Miller Of Glanmore (LAY)

5:30 Fr. Breen Memorial (Pro-Am) Flat Race (4-7yo, 2m, 8 runners)

We’ll save the nap until last – Devils Bride has won both his starts with ease (aggregate 19 lengths) and can complete the hat-trick for Willie Mullins.

SELECTION: Devils Bride (NAP)

3.20 Busted Tycoon
