8 FROM 12 WINNING BETS FROM SHAMROCK AND TODAY BIDS FOR THIRD NAP IN-A-ROW: There’s three Graded races in a row at Punchestown but all eyes will be on record seeking Hurricane Fly in the Morgiana Hurdle at 2.15.

1:05 Madigans Bars Craddockstown Novice Chase (Grade 2) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m, 8 runners)

Six of the eight runners were winners last time out and this is a strong line-up with some exciting future chasers on show. My instinct is that Defy Logic is too short in the market. Not because I can find too many faults with him – simply I think the price is an injustice to his rivals. There was certainly plenty to like about Defy Logic’s chasing debut at Naas where he made all the running to rout his rivals but this is tougher and he has a serious rival in the shape of Felix Yonger who reppeared after a lengthy absence to make a winning chase debut here at Punchestown. I’m pressing lay on Defy Logic at around evens.

1:40 Dobbins Outdoor Catering Florida Pearl Novice Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 6f, 4 runners)

Just the four with Los Amigos a non runner and the betting has it as a match between Don Cossack who was impressive when making a winning chasing debut at Galway and Morning Assembly who was a winner over the 2m 4f trip here last time. I prefer Morning Assembly who is the better price of the two and have a feeling that Don Cossack needs the ground bottomless to show his best form.

2:15 StanJames.com Morgiana Hurdle (Grade 1) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m, 5 runners)

Superstar Hurricane Fly heads four runners from the Mullins yard, with Marito, Midnight Game and Mikael D’Haguenet also taking their chances.

Hurricane Fly will set a World Record for Grade One victories if successful, surpassing the record of Kauto Star and US Champion John Henry.

Mullins said of his dual champion: “We had a fantastic summer which meant fantastic grass, so Hurricane Fly has come back stronger than ever this year, which is extraordinary. Hopefully those looks will carry through to performance.

“I’m very pleased with him, he worked very well on Tuesday. We schooled him on Wednesday, he jumped very well so I’m very pleased going towards today.”

It’s race to sit back, admire and cheer home one of jumpings greatest stars.
