THREE WINNING NAPS FROM LAST FOUR: SHAMROCK landed a winning nap from his only bet on Saturday – LUSTROUS LIGHT WON 4/5.
The NAP, Lustrous Light, won the final race at Navan yesterday – in the end quite narrowly by a neck after he was hammered all day in the market and ended up going off at 4/5.
That’s now three winning naps from the last four.
There’s Group 3 action at Naas this afternoon with the Lacken Stakes over six furlongs which has attracted a field of seven.
I’m keen on Smash Williams here. He looked exceptional when making a winning debut at the Curragh over this trip last season and followed up that win in better class when winning a Group 3, also at the Curragh. He showed his versatility ground wise as the first win was on good to firm and the second on yielding to soft.
He was sent off an odds favourite for his final start – a Group 2 at Maisons-Laffitte but the soft ground may have stretched him too far and he could only finish a well held third.
Just like last season – a fresh horse on better ground could see Smash Williams at his best.
The obvious danger is the Aidan O’Brien trained Washington DC who has won three Listed races but disappointed when tried at Group 3 level at Ascot in April.
