SHAMROCK HAS A RED LETTER DAY: TWO from TWO for SHAMROCK on Red Mills Day at Gowran Park yesterday. Now for the big races at Navan on Sunday.

Smashing is very much living up to his name. He is relishing his racing at the moment and notched up a fourth win in a row at Gowran Park yesterday when landing the NAP (WON 9/10) in The Red Mills Chase. He was available at much better prices on BETDAQ earlier in the day and the grey put in a terrific round to beat Morning Assembly by 11 lengths.

Later in the afternoon, next best, Sempre Medici had an easy win in the Red Mills Trial Hurdle. Mind you at 2/7 anything less than an easy win would have been disappointing.

A big day of racing at Navan but once again we are blighted by small fields in the feature races.

2:30 Flyingbolt Novice Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 1f, 3 runners)

Ttebbob couldn’t get to the front in the Grade 1 Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown won by the outstanding Douvan but is worth another chance down a grade and with just two Willie Mullins trained rivals standing in the way. Ttebbob won his first two races over fences in fine style but the key to him really does appear to be racing from the front. Sambremont is likely to take him on in the early stages with Tell Us More playing his cards late but hopefully Ttebbob can build up a big enough lead to hold on.

3:00 Ladbrokes Ireland Boyne Hurdle (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 5f, 4 runners)

Got a strong feeling that Gigginstown House Stud might win this !!! They have the front three in the betting and there are only four runners but sorting the hierarchy out is hard and the BETDAQ market may yet send off Prince Of Scars OR Dedigout as favourite. Dedigout won this easily last year but has only been seen out once since – winning at Fairyhouse last April and has subsequent the absence to overcome. Rising star Prince Of Scars might have his measure today. He caused a shock when winning a Grade 1 at Leopardstown over Christmas in impressive fashion.

4:00 Ten Up Novice Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 3m, 7 runners)

I’ve opposed Willie Mullins in the two big races so far but he should end up with at least one of the big races with Black Hercules who has taken to chasing well – winning at Navan and across at Warwick last time when his jumping was particularly impressive. Monksland often finds one or two too good but still looks the biggest danger.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Ttebbob (2.30 Navan)
NEXT BEST: Prince Of Scars (3.00 Navan)
WIN: Black Hercules (4.00 Navan)
BETDAQ MULTIPLES: 3 x doubles and a treble
