SHAMROCK’S NAP WINS AT 11/4: SHAMROCK struck at Punchestown on Saturday when his NAP and only bet of the day LOVE RORY WON at 11/4.
A great start to the weekend with Love Rory winning the Risk Of Thunder Chase at Punchestown yesterday for the second year running to land my nap at 11/4.
A cracking days racing back at Punchestown today with three graded races in a row:
1:05 Madigans Bars Craddockstown Novice Chase (Grade 2) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m, 6 runners)
Willie Mullins and Henry de Bromhead have dominated recent runnings of this and dominate this year’s running with two third of the field between them. Alelchi Inois is unbeaten in five chase races and this is by far his biggest test over the bigger obstacles. However, we have yet to see just how good he could be as he keeps winning well with plenty in hand and is likely to again make it a tough test for his rivals from the front. Chancol looks the biggest danger.
1:40 Dobbins Outdoor Catering Florida Pearl Novice Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 6f, 5 runners)
Thunder And Roses has been declared a non runner in respect of trainer Dessie Hughes who has sadly passed away. Hughes rode (Monksfield 1979) and trained (Hardy Eustace 2004 & 2005) to win the Champion Hurdle amongst many career highlights.
This renewal looks open with narrow preference for Shanahan’s Turn who was an easy course winner last time out.
2:15 StanJames.com Morgiana Hurdle (Grade 1) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m, 5 runners)
Without doubt the highlight of the day bringing together the great Hurricane Fly who bids for his third win in the race and reigning Champion Hurdler Jezki who is four years younger. The Fly was a 1/16 chance when winning this last year but may again find Jezki a tough nut to crack. I’m expecting to Jezki confirm Cheltenham and Punchestown Champion Hurdle form over his old rival.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Alelchi Inois (1.05 Punchestown)
NEXT BEST: Jeszki (2.15 Punchestown)
WIN: Shanahan’s Turn (1.40 Punchestown)
