ON THE FRINGE OF ANOTHER SUCCESS: SHAMROCK looks ahead to day one of the Aintree Festival with his NAP running in the Randox Health Foxhunters’ Open Hunters’ Chase at 4.05pm.
29 runners over the Grand National course and the instinct is not really to back a short priced favourite however the case for hat-trick seeking On The Fringe is compelling.
He shows no signs of slowing down in his 12th year and was hugely impressive when landing this 12 months ago when prominent throughout and staying on well to beat 50/1 outsider Dineur (back again today) by eight lengths.
Although he was a beaten favourite at the Cheltenham Festival, Enda Bolger’s charge still ran with credit (having been given a lot to do) and was only beaten two lengths and two necks in fourth by Pacha Du Polder.
Balnaslow was close up in fifth at Cheltenham and must have realistic chances of reaching the frame today.
