CLONMEL OIL CHASE: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the Grade 2 Clonmel Oil Chase on this afternoon’s card at Clonmel with the feature due off at 3.00pm.
The feature Clonmel Oil Chase at 3.00 looks a match-up between the two stablemates Cilaos Emery and Bachasson from the Willie Mullins yard.
Both are making their seasonal reappearances after a similar time off the course and it looks as though Paul Townend has made the correct choice with the 163 rated Cilaos Emery who heads the BETDAQ Betting Exchange market on this race.
The eight-year-old is proven on testing ground (forecast heavy this afternoon) and should also appreciate this step up in trip. He hasn’t been seen since finishing fourth in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham where he was far from disgraced behind the winner Epatante.
He is three from four over fences and should be able to pick up this decent prize.
Bachasson was impressive when winning over course and distance in March and should again account for Mortal on that form given he was 14 lengths back in third and has become a little disappointing this season.
