CLONMEL GETS THE SHOW BACK ON THE ROAD: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the Clonmel card this afternoon where the ground is still very much on the heavy ground.
As Nicky Henderdon said in a recent Cheltenham Preview: “We can’t remember what good ground looks like.”
He’s got a point. Heaven above if you have a horse that likes fast ground. Just what opportunities are there? Even in the summer the courses water the tracks !
A leisurely 2.35pm start at Clonmel this afternoon for their seven race card which will be run on, you’ve guessed it, heavy ground.
A huge field of 21 go to post for the Lisronagh Maiden Hurdle at 3.10 but it features one of the strongest favourites of the day.
Bonzo Bing made an excellent start to his hurdling career when finishing third to Dromnea at Punchestown last month.
He had already shown promise both between the flags and in flat races and should be able to record a first success here.
The Mystro also made a solid hurdling debut, coming over course and distance here behind Daliyan but on balance it looks as though Bonzo Bing may have the scope for the greater improvement.
