ODDS ON FAV LOOKS TOO SHORT: SHAMROCK opposes an odds-on favourite in the second race at Clonmel today, preferring three chances for a place with a runner at better odds than the favourite is to win.
Looks a good opportunity to play the BETDAQ place market in the 1.25 at Clonmel today.
It’s not surprising to the see the Willie Mullins trained Sympa Des Flos trading as favourite but at odds-on I can’t really be interested. He was also odds-on for his debut at Downpatrick but could only finish a five length second to Out Of The Loop and there didn’t appear to be any excuses.
The ex-French trained runner may well improve sufficiently to win this quite modest event but as a betting proposition I much prefer the place chances of Chatham Street Lad who chased home the long odds-on Monbeg Chit Chat on debut here at Clonmel and finished well clear of the third.
It was a promising effort and the bare form is at least as good as the favourite.
The nap recommendation is to back Chatham Street Lad to place – currently a better price on BETDAQ than Sympa Des Flos is on the win market.
