GROUP 3 ACTION AT TIPPERARY: The Coolmore Stud Fairy Bridge Stakes is the highlight on the evening card at Tipperary.

We’re down to a field of nine fillies for the Group 3 race at Tipperary this evening over the trip of 7f 100y.

It looks very competitive although Dermot Weld has a strong hand with both Tested and Big Break. Preference is for the former who chased home Dalkova in a Listed race at the Galway Festival having earlier in the season finished sixth to Marvellous in the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh.

The key to her chances really rest on the ground – she wouldn’t want it turning soft but the latest report from the track suggests only scattered showers are likely to hit Tipperary where the ground is currently good, good to firm in places.

I’m not sure Big Break is as far behind her stable companion as the market suggests, however with Pat Smullen opting for Tested it’s clearly a strong pointer.

Witches Brew won her maiden at the Curragh but then struggled when stepped up to Listed company at Cork and may find this a step too far. Some Spirit bolted home, making all the running, to win a Leopardstown maiden last time out by six lengths but the form of that hasn’t worked out particularly well.

Preference has to be for Tested with the biggest danger likely to come from Johnny Murtagh’s Purr Along who does have winning form at Group 3 level but that came on soft ground at the Curragh.
