GROUP RACE NAP: SHAMROCK’S nap on Thursday runs in the Group 3 Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown tonight.
A bitterly disappointing run from the nap Liquid Amber yesterday who finished stone last in the Listed Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran Park.
The race went to English raider Snowy Raider who was beaten 88 lengths at York in Group company before chasing home Desert Diamond at a respectable distance in a Listed race at York. Even with hindsight hard to predict 🙁
They race at both Leopardstown and Tramore tonight with the feature race being the Group 3 Invesco Pension Consultants Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown.
Aidan O’Brien relies on St Patrick’s Day after his other intended runner Threeandfourpence was pulled out.
St Patrick’s Day was a beaten favourite at the Curragh last time out but it was in Group 2 company and he should find this easier and being lightly raced is also intended to improve further. He is certainly worth keeping on the right side of.
Xenobia won a Group 3 last time out at Fairyhouse but had previously struggled over the mile trip leaving the Roger Varian trained Masaarr as the biggest danger after a good third at Newmarket last time out.
