DESMOND STAKES NAP: All eyes on Leopardstown tonight where the feature race is the Group 3 Invesco Pension Consultants Desmond Stakes over a mile at 7.00pm.
Whichever way you shake it, it’s mighty hard to get away from Madhmoon in the Group 3 Invesco Pension Consultants Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown (7.00pm) tonight.
The three-year-old, trained by Kevin Prendergast, is comfortably clear on official ratings and is a class performer as he proved when finishing runner-up in the Epsom Derby and subsequently fourth in the Irish Derby. He was unbeaten as a two-year-old in two starts and should relish this easier assignment and gain a much deserved first win of the season.
On form it’s hard to pick any major dangers and Madhmoon would surely need to underperform to lose this. The only slight cause for concern is the form of the Prendergast stable who have gone 13 runners without a win but I’m still sticking with Madhmoon for today’s NAP.
