LABURNUM LANDS NAP: SHAMROCK landed his NAP Laburnum (WON 4/5) yesterday in the Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran Park.
Laburnum confirmed Irish Oaks form with stable companion Ennistymon yesterday as the pair finished 1-2 in the Listed Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran Park to give SHAMROCK a 4/5 winning NAP.
The Irish action moves on to Leopardstown and Tramore on Thursday with the feature being the Group 3 Clipper Logistics Desmond Stakes at 3.00.
Ancient Spirit heads the BETDAQ market, which is not surprising given his superb season so far – winning Listed races at Navan and at the Curragh but just finding this level too much when runner-up in the Meld Stakes here last time over the slightly shorter one mile trip. The winner, Patrick Sarsfield, went on to frank the form with a good third to Barney Roy in a Group 1 in Germany.
The biggest danger might be Etneya who impressed on debut at the Curragh and is clearly well thought of given she also has Group 2 entries later in the season.
However Ancient Spirit sets the bar at a pretty high level and might prove strong enough today.
