TWO MORE GRADE 1’s: The Leopardstown Christmas Festival continues with two Grade 1 races on today’s card.
Two more top quality Grade 1 races to look forward to on the Leopardstown Thursday card.
1:55 Neville Hotels Novice Chase (Grade 1) (4yo+, Class 1, 3m, 10 runners)
No More Heroes won this at 4/9 last year for Gordon Elliott but this year’s renewal looks a lot more open.
Elliott runs a trio of runners but preference is for Coney Island who was a close runner-up to Bellshill over hurdles in a Grade 1 at the Punchestown Festival and proved his ability over the larger obstacles at Fairyhouse last time out with a win in the Drinmore Novice Chase.
This is over an extra half mile but if anything that should suit better.
2:30 Ryanair Hurdle (Grade 1) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m, 5 runners)
Nichols Canyon will be all the rage here and he has to be the (rather predictable) selection. He is comfortably rated the best of the quintet and beat Identity Thief by two lengths in this race last year.
He proved his current well-being with an impressive 12 length success in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown last month.
