MORE ACTION FROM LISTOWEL: SHAMROCK’s best bet at the Listowel Festival runs in the opener at 2.05pm.
Disappointing effort from the nap on Wednesday, Inis Meain who finished a well beaten fourth in the Listed race. The writing really looked on the wall from the start where he failed to lead and he certainly seems to be a horse that does best when he attempts to make the running.
The opener at Listowel on Thursday very much looks a match between the Dermot Weld trained Intisaab and long term maiden Chiclet who is now 11 starts without success.
I might well be mad, but I am going for Chiclet to make it 12th time lucky !! The form of Intisaab looks very moderate and although he ran well in second at Bellewstown last time out that came with give in the ground which he is not likely to get today.
Chiclet is rated higher anyway but also has the added bonus of receiving the fillies allowance and a 7lb claimer. Whether she can be persuaded to win at last of course is the big question – but it could be the case that she is simply too good for this field and has no other option.
She is likely to make the running and hopefully won’t be pegged back today.
