SHAMROCK AT TIPPERARY: SHAMROCK heads to Tipperary on Thursday when he is taking on an odds-on favourite in the two-year-old maiden at 5.15.
Even at this early stage of the season the opening two-year-old race looks an interesting event despite an entry of just four runners.
Washington DC should again account for Nice And Dandy – the pair were second and third behind Blood Moon at Dundalk earlier in the month but a danger to both of them has to be the Dermot Weld trained Hoppala who is out again surprisingly quickly having finished third on debut at the Curragh on Sunday. He stayed on well that day and it was a promising effort – and we’re safe in the knowledge that he goes well on turf as with the other two they have only raced on Polytrack.
Certainly there appears to much disparity between Washington DC’s price and Hoppala who has to be the value at around 4 on BETDAQ in early trading. Washington DC is trained by Aidan O’Brien who is out for the hat-trick in this event but he certainly didn’t look anything extra special at Dundalk.
The field is completed by the Ger Lyons trained Birdcage – a debutant Showcasing filly.
