THURLES NAP: SHAMROCK’S Thursday NAP runs in the 3.55 at Thurles.
I’m not sure Peregrine Run knows how to run a bad race. Peter Fahey’s runner is a prolific winner over fences but gets his chance to shine over the smaller obstacles in this 3.55 at Thurles over 2m 6f.
This looks an ideal opportunity spotted for him as he is rated 9lb clear of main dangers Elwood and Westland Row on official ratings and whilst it’s probably that he’s better over fences – that handicapping edge should be enough to land him another win.
He comes here on the back of a tremendous effort when fourth in the Galway Plate when not getting the clearest of runs in the closing stages and beaten just four lengths.
Elwood’s jumping remains a concern and he was sporadic in this department when runner-up to Quartz Du Rheu at Donwpatrick last time out which became a match when the only other runner unseated.
He is still preferred to his stable companion Westland Row who has only beaten one home in his last two starts.
