CAN KERNOFF FINALLY LOSE HIS MAIDEN TAG? No, says SHAMROCK in the 5.35 at Tipperary tonight on their mixed card.
The Mick Halford trained Kernoff has been expensive to follow. He showed little on debut at the Curragh but then seemed to be transformed by the switch to Polytrack at Dundalk where he has finished second in all three starts.
The latest of which he was sent off the 4/7 favourite but couldn’t peg back the winner, Mr Good Guy, who made all the running.
He’s favourite again on BETDAQ tonight but I am far from convinced. Certainly we don’t know, for sure, whether he is a better horse on all-weather, so the switch to turf may well be a negative and he’s also now been off the track for 153 days.
I think a far safer proposition might be Champagne Or Water (mines champagne, if you are aking by the way) who made a sataisfactory debut at Dundalk when third before finishing second to Alkaasser at Cork over six furlongs.
She was beaten six lengths that day but the winner looks useful and and it’s interesting that she is out again so quickly and being dropped back in distance again.
