HURRICANE AND FRIENDS: Hurricane Fly is likely to be joined by stablemates Arctic Fire and Diakali in Sunday’s BHP Insurances Irish Champion Hurdle.

No Irish racing today but the action should resume at Fairyhouse on Wednesday where there are currently no weather problems.

The course tweeted earlier today: “Ground @Fairyhouse is soft-heavy. Rain later, mainly dry tomorrow.”

Fingers crossed that Leopardstown on Sunday also get lucky with the weather as it’s BHP Insurances Irish Champion Hurdle day.

Hurricane Fly bids for an amazing fifth successive win in the race and his 22nd career Grade One race. I’m running out of superlatives !!

Trainer Willie Mullins has four entries in the race and it’s likely that Hurricane Fly will have company from stablemates Arctic Fire and Diakali.

New stable star Faugheen is also entered but Mullins said: “I doubt Faugheen will come, but we’ll see. I don’t think I need to run Faugheen again before Cheltenham. I’m happy enough with him at home.”

Mullins added: “Hurricane Fly was in great order this morning, so hopefully we can get him to the track in that kind of order again on Sunday”.

Hurricane Fly’s biggest threat is again likely to come from his old rival Jezki who was last of four in last year’s running.
