SHAMROCK NAP AT BALLINROBE: SHAMROCK naps in the maiden hurdle at 6.10 but also presses the BETDAQ lay button on the favourite in the opener.
No joy with the naps hat-trick attempt on Monday when Bless N’ject was well beaten behind chief market rival King Leon at Kilbeggan.
Irish action today comes courtesy of an eight race card at Ballinrobe.
I am keen to take on hot favourite Cassells Rock in the opener at around 2.22 on BETDAQ. He is still set to run having disappointed at Kilbeggan last night when a beaten favourite at 2/1 and is now without a win in 10 starts since joining Tony Martin from France.
It’s hard to envisage, less than 24 hours later, him winning this – even though it looks a weaker contest.
San Gabriel also runs again quickly having finished a modest fourth at Gowran on Saturday. Front running tactics were deployed then and if used again tonight he could prove hard to beat as he takes a drop in class.
The bet though will be to lay Cassells Rock as I wouldn’t be totally surprised to see an outsider popping up here.
Oscar Vespasian is the standout bet of the night in the maiden hurdle at 6.10. He ran really well on the firmer surface when chasing home Smiler at Downpatrick last time out and can account for chief market rival Indian Fairy who may have been flattered by her 33/1 3rd at Clonmel last time out when she didn’t jump too well.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Oscar Vespasian (6.10 Ballinrobe)
LAY: Cassells Rock (5.10 Ballinrobe)
