Motherland ran well at Roscommon when third to favourite Munaashid last time out and should relish the extra three furlong distance tonight at Ballinrobe.
Trained by Joseph O’Brien (who won this as a jockey last year), Motherland had previously shown promise on his debut at the Curragh when 6th of 22 in the race won by Rose De Pierre.
Sea Of Mystery looks the danger. John Oxx finally trained his first winner of the season yesterday with Arch Sting. The question mark over Sea Of Mystery is the trip. I wasn’t altogether sure that this extra distance would suit after his fifth to Cole Porter over 1m 4f at Leopardstown last time out.
