TODAY:
Annie supplementary looks formality
Which road to take
Un De Ready
- As widely anticipated, it looks likely that Annie Power will be supplemented for the Champion Hurdle later this month. Willie Mullins said: “We’ve got to supplement her (Annie Power), but Vroum Vroum Mag would look a possible for the Mares’ Hurdle and if that’s the case I would imagine Annie would go for the Champion.” Annie Power can currently be backed at 3.3 on BETDAQ for the Champion Hurdle and Vroum Vroum Mag at 2.16 for the Mares’ Hurdle.
- It is still uncertain whether Road To Riches will run in the Gold Cup – the race he finished an excellent third in last year. Trainer Noel Meade has said it will be down to the owners, Gigginstown House Stud, to decide. Road To Riches is considerably shorter in the betting for the Ryanair Chase than the Gold Cup. Meade said: “I would prefer he’d run in the Gold Cup but, look, I don’t own the horse and he [Michael] does. He has quite a few horses in the race so whatever he’s going to be the one to call who’s calling it. But we’ll wait and see.”
- It seems the Champion Chase can’t come soon enough for Un De Sceaux. Trainer Willie Mullins said: “He seems in great form. I would love it if the race was tomorrow. I’m just counting down the days with him, he’s in terrific order. We’ll probably do a school on a racetrack somewhere before we go (to Cheltenham). What I loved about Ascot was the manner of his racing. He switched off and settled and looked at his fences and jumped them, rather than going down and flying out over them.”
