WILL IT BE 321 FOR AFTERNOON SUNLIGHT?: SHAMROCK previews today’s card at the Curragh in which Dermot Weld’s Sea The Stars filly Afternoon Sunlight is the warm favourite.

Afternoon Sunlight is trading around evens on BETDAQ for the opener at the Curragh. The daughter of Sea The Stars has finished placed in both her starts to date.

She made an encouraging debut here when third to Terrific and looked in need of the run that day.

She then ran an excellent second to My Titania at Leopardstown over seven furlongs and gave the impression that the step back to a mile is what’s needed so hopefully optimimum conditions today.

The form of that Leopardstown race took a massive boost when My Titania went on to win a Group 3 at the Curragh.

She looks a solid option in the opener.

And finally well done to everyone involved in the fundraising day at Limerick yesterday.

A big crowd descended at the track as trainers, jockeys, owners and racegoers supported the fixture, with money being raised for the Jockeys Emergency Fund and to support the rehabilitation efforts of JT McNamara and Jonjo Bright after their life-changing injuries.

Over €250,000 was raised at the charity auction during the afternoon, but the total proceedings to be donated to Bright and McNamara is expected to far exceed that amount. A crowd of over 10,500 watched the action at the track.
