HE’S THE CHIEF: Shamrock’s NAP and only bet on Monday Indian Chief won well at 4/7 and has shortened for the Epsom Derby.
A short priced winner but a winning NAP.
As stated yesterday I was happy to back Indian Chief at anything north of 1.5 and we got around 1.6 on BETDAQ at the off.
Trainer Aidan O’Brien said after the race: “”For a Montjeu colt he has plenty of speed. They went a steady gallop and he quickened up well. Being dropped in last in a slowly-run race you might think it’s not the right place to be, but he picked up easily.”
He is likely to go the Dante > Epsom Derby route and is very much one to keep an eye on.
It is with a considerable degree on nervousness that I nap Wedding Present today. Firstly, he let us down at odds-on last time, and secondly he is stepping back dramaically in distance – a mile no less.
I can’t get away from the fact though that he is the clear form pick and I don’t see the drop back in trip a negative. He travels really well during his races and is up against some quirky characters here. Second favourite Moscow Chief ran deplorably at 4/9 at Naas on his hurdling debut.
Wedding Present is consistent at least and the bold move can hopefully reap rewards and recover some of losses on him !
