NO IRISH RACING ON TUESDAY: SHAMROCK takes an early look ahead to York next week and the chances of Free Eagle in the Juddmonte International on Wednesday.
No joy with the nap yesterday. I was beaten by a horse who had previously finished last of 16 at Galway – 70.5 lengths behind the winner. Tough game at times 🙁
No Irish racing on Tuesday – action resumes at Gowran Park on Wednesday when the Listed Hurry Harriet Stakes is the feature race on the card.
Looking further ahead to next week and the big York meeting. The unbeaten Derby winner Golden Horn is bidding to extend his sequence in the featured Juddmonte International on Wednesday.
Dermot Weld’s Free Eagle looks the strongest Irish challenger for the Group One prize. He could renew rivalry with The Grey Gatsby after their thrilling battle in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot when just a short head split them in favour of Free Eagle.
Weld said: “He’s a very high-class horse over a mile and a quarter, but I have every reason to believe he’ll get a mile and a half.”
His long term aim this season remains the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in October.
