NO IRISH RACING ON TUESDAY: SHAMROCK catches up with the latest news including Aidan O’Brien’s reaction to Sunday’s defeat of Air Force Blue.

No racing in Ireland today.

Racing resumes at Gowran Park on Wednesday.

The feature race is the Hurry Harriet Stakes at 7pm for which 14 fillies have been entered in what looks a wide open renewal.

Yesterday’s NAP, Billy De Kid, finished second at 100/30.

  • Aidan O’Brien has admitted Air Force Blue “is only a shadow of what he was” after his defeat on Sunday in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes where he trailed home last of the seven runners despite dropping to Group 3 from Group 1 level. O’Brien said: “We’ll see how he is. Obviously we’ll talk about it over the next week. It was a very disappointing run. He never really took off and is only a shadow of what he was. We’ll see over the next couple of weeks.”
  • Dermot Weld has said his dual Derby hero Harzand “probably looks better than ever” as he prepares for an Autumn campaign likely to feature the Qipco Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on September 10 and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe run at Chantilly this year.
  • Willie Mullins looks set to be double-handed in the Ebor at York with Simenon joining stablemate and the current ante-post favourite Ivan Grozny.
