LAYTOWN: SHAMROCK looks ahead to Laytown tonight – the annual meeting on the beach expected to take place in front of a sell-out crowd.
The nap was a non runner yesterday which is always better than a loser 🙂
Laytown stage their annual meeting tonight and course manager Kevin Coleman is expecting another sell out with hospitality fully booked up six weeks ago.
It’s a truly unique feature of the Irish racing year with 140 years of history and the course can’t even be laid out until the tide goes out this afternoon !
There are six races tonight starting at 5.05pm with the first two being run over six furlongs and the others over seven furlongs.
Proven course form is always a positive here – the problem is there isn’t much of it about with them only racing once a year !!
Jamie Osbourne sends over a raiding party from the UK and may well strike in the claimer at 6.35pm with the appropriately named Tidal’s Baby.
The eight-year-old is a model of consistency who is on a good run of placed form – recently notching up a sequence of SIX consecutive second places which takes some doing.
He is in the grip of the handicapper but this looks a good option and he has solid all-weather form too which is the closest we can get to figuring out whether he will handle the sand.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Tidal’s Baby (6.35 Laytown)
