IRISH RACING FROM DOWNPATRICK AND KILLARNEY ON TUESDAY: Last year’s Champion Bumper winner Silver Concorde has only his second start on the flat at Killarney.
There’s a busy eight race card at Killarney tonight comprising of five flat races and three chases.
Star of the night is undoubtedly Silver Concorde in the Celtic Steps At Killarney Racecourse (Q.R.) Race at 7.30pm.
The Dermot Weld trained seven-year-old won the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival last year and was then second at the Punchestown Festival in their Champion Bumper.
He has only previously run once on the flat – that was at Navan where he made quite hard work of landing odds of 2/5. He has to give weight away tonight and can’t really be a bet at the forecast price having to defy an absence of 156 days and Galway being the bigger target.
I thought the John Oxx trained Aimhirgin Lass was the bet of the night in the opening maiden. She had the misfortune to run into a very smart horse in the shape of Eshera on debut at the Curragh who could next be seen in the Darley Irish Oaks.
Biggest danger in the market Boherbuoy has been off the track for a while and the ground will be a lot faster for him than it was when he made his debut at the Curragh.
