ROSCOMMON: SHAMROCK heads to Roscommon for their evening meeting on Tuesday – a mix of flat and jumps racing. In a change of normal routine he has two lay bets on the card.
A third from the NAP on Monday – time to start building some new sequences.
Back to Roscommon for their evening meeting on Tuesday. Latest going report is good.
I’m not sure that Courage (6.50) is the best named horse in training.
With form figures of 4222 his courage in a finish does certainly have to be called into question and he was a beaten favourite at Cork last time out when all the cards appeared to fall his way but he still didn’t have the right attitude in the finish.
The instinct is to take him on – but then you look at the quality of the race and realise you don’t have a lot running for you.
I must admit I was surprised to see him trading as short as 1.4 on BETDAQ. There’s surely little downside in a lay at those skinny odds?
Another one that is trading far too short for me tonight is Bronte in the opener at 5.15. She ran well at Gowran Park last time out when second but remains a maiden after seven starts and was pulled up three starts ago.
Not one to rely on at short odds and she has some lightly raced potential improvers to cope with here.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
LAY NAP: Bronte (5.15 Roscommon)
LAY: Courage (6.50 Roscommon)
