IRISH RACING RESUMES AT NAVAN: An eight race card at Navan this afternoon on expected soft ground and SHAMROCK’s NAP of the day runs in the opener at 1.35.

The show is back on the road today and my best bet at the County Meath venue is the Kevin Condon trained filly Shanghai Beauty.

The race certainly looks less trappy now with the news that the Aidan O’Brien trained Pink Lavender is a non runner.

Trading at around 3 on BETDAQ, Shanghai Beauty made her debut at the Curragh when fifth to Jeanne Girl who then went on to run a narrow second to I Am Beautiful, also at the Curragh.

Shanghai Beauty’s subsequent race in July was a creditable fourth to Accepted in a Listed race at Tipperary where she was only beaten just over a length.

Today’s chief market rival is Red Ivy who actually holds the selection on Curragh form but has not seemingly progressed since then, whereas I feel Shanghai Beauty is still capable of further improvement.

A big field of maidens go to post for the 3.15 but it would take one to improve significantly to beat Steip Amach who has already finished fourth in two Listed races. Jim Bolger’s filly should appreciate the step back in class.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Shanghai Beauty (1.35 Navan)
NEXT BEST: Steip Amach (3.15 Navan)
