CLONMEL OFF: Tomorrow’s card at Clonmel is the latest victim of the weather, the meeting has been called off due to a frozen track.

As expected, Thursday’s meeting at Clonmel has been cancelled due to a frozen track.

Course Officials staged an inspection this morning but found the track to be unraceable.

Horse Racing Ireland tweeted: “Clonmel cancelled on Thursday, February 5. Track unfit for racing due to frost.”

The meeting however will now be staged on Tuesday 10th February.

There’s much better news coming in from Leopardstown where no weather problems are anticipated ahead of their quality card on Sunday with four Grade 1’s.

Leopardstown’s Nessa Joyce said: “We’re in a very good position, the ground is yielding, soft in places. We’ve not had a huge amount of rain since our last meeting. It has been very cold this week, but temperatures are set to rise as we head towards the weekend. At the moment we’ve got green grass and blue skies.”
