NO EPSOM RULER: Ruler Of The World is set to miss Saturday’s Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom after suffering a minor setback.
Disappointing news form Team O’Brien this morning with the announcement that last year’s Derby winner Ruler Of The World is set to miss Saturday’s Coronation Cup.
Harry Herbert, Al Shaqab’s racing adviser, told Press Association Sport: “Ruler Of The World worked very well on Tuesday, I was there to see him myself, but unfortunately he isn’t quite right this morning and I am almost certain he isn’t going to run on Saturday.
“It’s bitterly disappointing and very frustrating as everyone was very pleased with the way he worked, but he isn’t right this morning and you can’t line up in a race like the Coronation Cup unless you’re 100 per cent.
“We don’t think it’s anything serious, Aidan thinks he may have tweaked a muscle. It’s too early to say (where he will run next). We hadn’t looked beyond Saturday.”
Back over the jumps, Punchestown race this evening with generally big fields apart from the opener when there’s just a quartet going to post.
Art Of Logistics, for Dessie Hughes, looks to have a simpler task than he did when winning here last time out and should land the odds in style. He is rated a stone superior on official ratings.
In the 7.50 I’ll take a chance with Daisy’s Gift. I say ‘take a chance’ as she has been off the track for 461 days but this is rarely a problem with runners from the Willie Mullins yard.
She won a mares bumper in grand style on her debut at Thurles and can make a winning, if belated, start to her hurdling career.
