SHAMROCK AT DOWN ROYAL: SHAMROCK’S best bet of the day comes in the maiden hurdle at 3.10 and he is taking on the Gordon Elliott trained favourite.
Altiepix is a horse I want to take on at Down Royal this afternoon. The Gordon Elliott trained runner let supporters down at 8/13 on his hurdling debut at Fairyhouse making mistakes and dropping away quite tamely to finish third.
He’s back over the same 2m 4f trip today and I can’t see any great reason for wading in at around 2.3 on the BETDAQ market. If you are looking for positives on the favourite then I guess you’ll be taking the angle of it being a slightly easier race.
But there are a couple that could trouble him. Itsnothingpersonal won well between the flags and is making his debut under rules today for interesting connections but so far the market is not particularly positive.
A bigger danger could well come from the Jessie Harrington trained Moscow Magic who takes a big drop in class. He won at Naas on his debut in a bumper and since then finish 4th of six in a Listed bumper at Navan and then 8th to Windsor Park on his his hurdling debut at Leopardstown. He was a 33/1 shot that day and only beaten around 15 lengths so could easily come on from that run and defy the penalty for his bumper win.
